Scarves: Do you print on one side or on both? This post explores the possibilities

When you create a custom scarf, you need to decide if you want to print on one side or on both sides of the fabric. When you make the decision, please consider these four factors:

  1. The Design. When you print on one side, the ink penetrates the silk but not to a 100%. In other words, the backside of the scarf will be a softer, weaker, version compared to the front side. This does not matter so much if you are using lighter colors — but the difference between the front side and the back side becomes more pronounced when you are using darker colors. In the below video you will see examples of this

  2. The Feel. When we print on one side, we use a 12mm silk. It is a little thinner, a little lighter. We use this thinner silk so that the ink penetrates better. When we print on both sides of the silk, we use a 14mm silk, which is a little heavier.

  3. Your Budget. Printing on both sides will be more expensive. We are to provide you quotes.

  4. The End User. What is the purpose of the scarf? Is it a gift to high-end donors? Well, perhaps printing on both sides is worth it. Is it a product launch? Then printing on one side might be just fine.

The below video shows you concrete examples of the difference between printing on one side vs. printing on both sides.
